Despite spending $1.6 billion to promote its ‘smiley face’ image to the public, in the last year, Wal-Mart has joined other big, powerful corporations and lobbied directly against the best interests of the American people.

Here are a few examples of Wal-Mart’s extreme agenda on some of the issues I care most about:

1) Health Care for All - Wal-Mart opposed expanding health care to working families and their children.

2) Raising Wages - Wal-Mart opposed a living wage ordinance which would have required profitable corporations like Wal-Mart to pay $10 per hour.

3) Protecting American Jobs - Wal-Mart lobbied for trade agreements that are used to ship good-paying, middle class American jobs to Communist China.

4) National Security - Wal-Mart’s special interest group lobbied Congress against strengthening port security, leaving America more vulnerable to another terrorist attack.
